ABOUT DR. THOMAS CAMPBELL

Dr. Thomas J. Campbell Chiropractor

Dr. Campbell is originally from Scotland. He grew up in Australia, where he attended Adelaide University Medical School. In Australia, chiropractic education has been fully integrated into the mainstream University system.

This allows for greater emphasis to be placed on a deeper science-based, evidence-based education than that found in most chiropractic colleges in the United States. American chiropractic schools generally teach only about the spine.

Australian chiropractic schools grew out of the Osteopathic education system, thus they receive supplemental education on all body joints. What does that mean? It means if you or your wonderful dog have a shoulder, wrist, elbow, knee or ankle injury or pain – That I can help – So call me.

Dr. Campbell owned and operated two successful chiropractic practices in Sydney, Australia prior to moving to the United States in 2001.

A Short Story from Dr. Thomas Campbell

After moving with my family from Scotland to Australia at age five, many of my fondest life memories are of playing, walking with, and having fun with our family dogs. Our family enjoyed one Dalmatian, a few magnificent Labradors, a cute female German Shepherd, and a unique Australian terrier. One of my favorite memories of a family dog was when I was about ten and two friends were on one end of an old blanket, and our black Labrador was on the other end playing tug of war..... it was a lot of fun, and yes, the dog always won.

Why Dr. Campbell began taking care of dogs.

Fast-forward to 2008. I had a wonderful female Yorkshire terrier. She came to work with me every day, often meeting my clients before I did. She gave my clients so much love and behaved like a therapy dog.

From the time she was potty trained, she always slept on my bed, jumping onto the bed about 2.5 feet. Then, one day, I noticed she couldn't jump. It broke my heart. So, of course, I took her to her excellent Vet, Dr Mark. He examined her and told me the problem was in her spine. As a chiropractor, I almost fell off my seat. He advised me that there are dog chiropractors. I immediately replied that I would take care of her

I took her home, examined her spine, and looked at the digital X-ray Dr Mark had provided. Humans have five lumbar vertebrae, and dogs have 7. The X-ray showed degeneration at Lumbar 6 and 7. I treated the injured vertebra, and being very trusting, she let me do what I needed to do, which I made sure was gentle. Well, that night, she still couldn't jump, so it broke my heart to have to lift her onto my bed. I treated her again the next day and still no real change. Then, I treated her on the third day, and when I reached down to pick her up, she surprised me and jumped 2.5 feet onto my bed, bringing me to tears of happiness.

Since 2008, I have been treating my clients' dogs with great improvements in the quality of life of their dogs. It is very rewarding work to treat a dog having difficulty walking, and then after three or four treatments, the dog is walking, running, and behaving like a much younger version of herself. I treated one dog whose owner was getting ready to put wheels under her old dog's back legs to allow him to move around. Then, after 5 treatments, he was walking, running, and quickly walking up steps.
